My ultrarunning adventures on the mountains and trails influence the creative process in my artmaking. My artwork is informed by the environment and my personal sense of scale and impact of experience as I move through nature physically, mentally and emotionally. I feel most authentic and inspired when I am connecting with nature and creating art.

My wonder of nature, trees, canyons, and mountains is depicted through mixed media collage and the painterly abstraction of organic materials and elemental aspects in my sculptural environmental maquettes called “Portable Places.” These textural landscapes offer a scenic place to encounter a moment in nature, an ecosystem, a mountain summit, or a journey across a canyon.

My artistic process includes adventure and travel as well as the exploration of source art materials that are recycled or found objects that may be transformed and repurposed into a 3d terrain for my inked paper collage.

I recently discovered the word “Trivium” which means a place where 3 ways meet. I think of my art process as trivium as I explore mixed media landscapes through painting, collage(fabric/paper), and sculptures/assemblages.
